DE BAKKERSWINKEL: A DELICIOUS LUNCH IN A PIET HEIJN EEK INTERIOR
A nice hotspot to enjoy a lovely lunch, is De Bakkerswinkel (the bakery). Last year, the second location is opened in Rotterdam Kralingen, but for a lunch in the sun is the terrace of the Bakkerswinkel at the Schiedamse Vest ideal. And if you’re lucky, you can already smell the delicious cakes in the oven!
An interior from scrap wood
The Bakkerwinkel in the Centre can be found in the street off the lively Witte de With. The scrap wood of the counter and chairs is a real eyecatcher, when you walk in. The Interior is designed by Piet Hein Eek, which is known for its designs from scrap wood. The menu is painted on a large sign on the wall and if you go through to the back, you get to the doors to the small city garden.
Home made pies, chutney’s and jams
There is so much food on the menu, that there is something for everyone. Great for when you are going to have lunch with the kids!
They’ve the most delicious carrot cake, walnutcaramel cake and cheesecake with raspberries, but also good bread with Chutneys and pestos. And the great thing is that everything (except the bread) is homemade by the Bakkerswinkel.
If you don’t have time for a lunch, you can also take all the food from the menu home!
You can find the Bakkerswinkel in the City Center at the Schiedamse Vest 99a in Rotterdam. In Kralingen at Oostplein 223a. And the Bakkerswinkel is also situated in Amsterdam, Utrecht and the Hague.
