Today, I went with Flint to the Cinekid festival at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. A film, TV and media festival for kids from 11 till 18 October 2014.
Without expectations, I went there. Also a bit with the thought; if Flint doesn’t like it, then I’ll be home soon. After all he’s not even 4yo. And is this festival suitable for him? But my answer is a resounding yes :).
On forehand, I looked at the program, selected two films and wanted to visit the media lab anyway. When we arrived, we had to look what was where, but Flint was immediately captivated by the music in the festival tent. The kids from the Telekids musical school, practiced their opening. Outside, there was also plenty to do; a turntable, an astro trainer, the Yakfa Cinema with the new adventures of ‘Buurman and Buurman’ and Piet and Anja baking delicious ‘poffertjes’ (which of course we’ve tried).

After a coffee (and apple juice) break, we wanted to go to the film of Emil & Ida in the Movies, but that turned out to be a failure. We couldn’t find the way, because the movie appeared to run at another location. So we eventually ended up in the media lab. The best choice ever btw!

Flint entertained himself all afternoon making a space movie (with himself in the lead role as space man), made a stop-motion video, we avoid obstacles -with 3D glasses on- and we presented the ‘Jeugd journaal’ together.
