Myra is a lawyer and mom of twe sons Just (’10) and Quinten (’12) and she lives in Amsterdam. Regularly, she goes out with the boys on friday, her day off. Of course her boys are super sweet, but also real boys who make a lot of noice, knocking over things, making a mess and want to run around. So you can assume that whatever she’s doing, is in any case ‘kids proof’!
I’ve a little break in writing blogs, but sometimes I find something I really like to share with you! One of the people I admire a lot, is an old colleague of mine: Genna. She wasn’t afraid to give up the ‘ security ‘ of the job as a lawyer, to discorver what really makes her happy. This is mainly the reason for the start of the Peter Pan Club. The idea behind the Peter Pan Club is that children can continue to be kids, and from that idea, they organise different workshops at Het Stenen Hoofd (The Stone Head).
The Stone Head alone is worth a visit, this is a piece of land on the Westerdoksdijk where a small Gypsy wagon is situated, where you can buy the most delicious organic and responsible things. While sitting in the sun next to the IJ, you look over a deserted and little wild piece of land. On this land they organise different activities for the kids; like the workshop Gators, Snakes and Magic sticks, where kids can use their creativity and imagination to make something special of an ordinary branch. But they also have Yoga for kids, a song wizard and there are many more great workshops in the planning!
A few weeks ago, I went to a Qigong workshop with the guys, this was given by Mundo. with the guys to a Qigong workshop, this was given by Mundo. Qigong (for those who -like me- have never heard of it) is a kind of Tai Chi; exercises that increase your focus by focusing on listening to your body and breathing (Mundo; I hope I’am explaining it correct). This was on Sunday morning, and it was really nice! Enjoying the Sun, the boys did take part for a while but then they went searching for stones and branches, and that was fine! The starting point is that the children can do what they want to do and are challenged to try new things at the same time. are challenged to try new things. In the meantime, you can sit in the sun and order something delicious and I even joined the Qigong workshop for a moment!
I would say, try something new and go with follow a workshop with your kids! Check out Facebook for more info! Wednesday 8 July is for example the next Gators, Snakes and magic sticks workshop….
