Let me introduce myself: my name is Anaïs (30), Lou’s mom (2012) and I work at the sales department of fashion company Hop Agenturen. I have been living in beautiful Brabant for five years now, with Han. But as a true Antwerp girl, my heart still skips a beat for this beautiful city along the Schelde. That’s why you can find me there almost every week, cause it feels like coming home every time!
June is food month on UrbanMoms.nl, so another good reason to look at places of delights. And yes, I’m and will be a Belgian gril and will always be a foodie.
Last weekend, the weather was delightful, so ideal to head over to ‘t Eilandje. It’s been great there, thanks to the MAS (Museum Aan de Stroom) that rices from the dock!
In the dock are always a lot of boats, which gives me an extra holiday feeling. One of my favorites places there is the Felix warehouse.
The ideal place for a lovely breakfast on Sunday
Along the Felix warehouse, Market has opened its doors a while back. The name speaks for itself: it’s a kind of posh indoor ‘supermarket’ where you can buy fresh products like fish, meat, cheese, wines, all kinds of oils, pasta’s etc. And all this in the nicest packaging!
You can take everything back home or eat it on the spot with a nice glass of wine or refreshing beer. The Market is also the ideal place for extended Sunday breakfasts. Because Belgians simply prefer extensive breakfast somewhere else in the weekends!
The Market Breakfast looks festive and really taste delicious!
Nice detail is the buzzer. If you choose to order, go to the checkout and you get the buzzer with it, which lights up and vibrates once your food is ready in the kitchen.
No balls, no glory
At the front of the Market, you can find Balls & Glory. A concept of Wim Ballieu, a real farmer’s son who loved the typical Flemish dish: the meatball. Wim grew to TV chef and started his concept restaurants in Ghent and Bruges.
Balls & Glory brings an assortment of handmade meatballs ‘filed with things we love!’ Glad there’s a restaurant in Antwerp now! Enjoy!
