DE MAMMIES: THEATRE FOR THE LITTLE ONES by Myra

Myra is a lawyer and mom of twe sons Just (’10) and Quinten (’12) and she lives in Amsterdam. Regularly, she goes out with the boys on friday, her day off. Of course her boys are super sweet, but also real boys who make a lot of noice, knocking over things, making a mess and want to run around. So you can assume that whatever she’s doing, is in any case ‘kids proof’! You won’t find me at a play for adults, because I don’t really like that over the top acting. But, as you may have noticed, I ám a fan of theatre for the little ones. Earlier, I’ve written about theatre the Toverknol and Wonderland, and I’d happily like to add the plays of ‘De Mammies’. MINIMARKT: NEW KIDS CONCEPTSTORE IN AMSTERDAM by guest blogger Evelien

Evelien is mommy of Piet (2010) and Tycho (2012) and lives with pleasure with husband and kids in Amsterdam. She loves to discover places where the kids can freely move and play and where it looks and feels good for the parent(s) as well, because that can be a challenge sometimes. Luckily there are increasingly more places where this combination is a match. In the coming blogs she will share her findings with you guys. In the normally somewhat boring Beethovenstraat -around the corner from our house-, MiniMarkt Amsterdam opened it's doors at Beethovenstraat 5a; a store that made the whole street a lot hipper and younger. ‘My’ neighbourhood could use that. I call it a store, but it’s actually a conceptstore (more…)

So you can assume that whatever she's doing, is in any case ‘kids proof’! A colleague, also mom of two boys, recently tipped me to go to Blender; 'very relaxed to meet with friends and kids, at least there’s room for the kids to play'. (more…)

WITH THE KIDS TO A PERFORMANCE OF WONDERLAND by guest blogger Myra

Let me introduce myself; my name is Myra, I’m a lawyer and mother of twe sons Just (2010) and Quinten (2012). I live in Amsterdam, with my boyfriend and two kids. Regularly I go out with the boys on Friday, my day off. Of course my boys are super sweet ;) but also real boys who make a lot of noise, knocking over things, making a mess and want to run around. So you can assume that wherever I’m going and whatever I’m doing is in any case “kids proof”! A few weeks ago, I went to a play of Wonderland with the boys and the two daughters of a good friend. This play was in the Buiksloterkerk (North), a real cool spot to go to a play some time! But the makers of Wonderland have plays in several spots. (more…)

HOTSPOT: DE HALLEN IN AMSTERDAM by guest blogger Evelien

Especially since De Hallen (the old tramremise) got here, you can’t deny that. I had been there (once with my man and once with friends), but the kids hadn’t. Time to explore, especially keeping in mind the colder and wetter months ahead, a nice place to enjoy ourselves inside is very welcome. (more…)
