Let me introduce myself; my name is Myra, I’m a lawyer and mother of twe sons Just (2010) and Quinten (2012). I live in Amsterdam, with my boyfriend and two kids. Regularly I go out with the boys on Friday, my day off. Of course my boys are super sweet ;) but also real boys who make a lot of noise, knocking over things, making a mess and want to run around. So you can assume that wherever I’m going and whatever I’m doing is in any case “kids proof”!
Amsterdam is a store richer and what is more fun than a store full of pepernoten (a Dutch treat, which is something like a gingernut cookie). On the Van Woustraat 101 recently opened the ‘Pepernotenwinkel’. I have to confess that I’m one of those suckers who instantly buys a stock of truffle pepernoten once they arrive in stores in August, even if it’s steaming hot outside. When I heard a store was opened which sells only pepernoten, I had to go and take a look!
The Pepernotenwinkel is opened by the Pepernotenfactory Van Delft and you can choose from over 35 kinds of pepernoten. Apart from the regular ones, there are pepernoten with a twist, like fore-pepernoten with star anise, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and tail pepper. There are all kinds of chocolate nuts as well with flavours like yoghurt, stroopwafel, truffle (yess!!), orange and cappuccino. You can also buy ‘taai-taai’ and speculaas cookies.
The Pepernotenwinkel is opened year round and the best thing is, you can taste them all :). For opening hours check Pepernotenfabriek.nl.
