A weekend away with friends or family is always a good idea, but finding that perfect is so time consuming and difficult with all the wishes. But we’ve found you the perfect place, just 1.5 hours from Amsterdam.
We’ve made it a tradition to go away for a weekend with my girlfriends from highschool, with kids and men. In our case this means 14 adults and 17 kids (and counting), so good luck finding that spot that houses all those people. A spot that suits everyone’s wishes, needs, is big enough and is not too far away. We got a recommendation two years ago about it Flinkeboskje in Hemelum, Friesland. And this year we went there for the second time, with 12 adults and 14 kids. One of us lives in Argentina and couldn’t make unfortunately.
It Flinkeboskje is a holiday farm on a beautiful piece of land with apple trees and gorgeous typical Dutch views. We rented the large farm with country house, suitable for 12-24 persons. Together it has 10 bedrooms and 6 (!) bathrooms. Besides the perfect surroundings the inside is also so stylish. Think vintage chairs, large diner tables, a fireplace and play corner. With lots of toys like, games, table tennis football table, puzzles etc.
The outside area is also very well equipped, a huge wooden picknick table that suits all, BBQ’s and an outside fireplace, perfect for cooler summer nights and roasting marshmallows. There are enough balls, racquets etc.
Actually you don’t need to leave the house at all, because the kids will play together and you sit in your lounge chair with a drink in your hand. But they’re fun things to do in the neighborhood, also for kids. You can rent a boat, there is an awesome playground (a really big one for all ages) Sybrandy’s just a short drive from the house. But also cute typical Frisian villages like Hindelopen where we went. Kids can run on the dikes between the sheep’s, you can drink a cup of coffee or eat herring.
The owners of it Flinkeboskje also organize other activities, they rent the location for business meetings, weddings. And they also have a big renovated barn where you can organize workshops or a nice diner party.
Oh, and before I forget if you don’t feel like cooking all weekend you can also have a caterer bring delicious food for the whole weekend!
